Play Poker like you’ve never played it before with this excellent Steam-based application. Governor of Poker 3 is totally free, and only requires a small download to your PC in order for you to start playing. Once you’ve had it installed, you can simply open up your Steam app in your PC to initiate it and start playing.
When you begin playing the game, you’ll be greeted with a screen that introduces the game and requires you to pick a gender for your character. Once you’ve determined your gender, you’ll be taken to a map that shows the locations in the game that you’ve unlocked. You start off in the Rookie section, where you’ll find one saloon open and the others waiting to be unlocked.
The game gives you a very short tutorial just to show you where things are and how stuff work in the game, and then you’re on your own.
Poker is an amazingly simple but challenging game. The goal is to build the best hands from two cards dealt to you and a total of five cards that the dealer hands out to you in every round. The player with the best hand wins the match. Now, the objective is to gain the most amount of money out of the hands that you build from the table. This means that you’ll have to goad the other players into betting their money into the game to raise the pot.
As they say, you have to maintain your Poker face, but you also have to bluff. There’s a chat function on the left side of the screen with pre-determined messages like “Are you sure?”, “Keep getting bad cards”, or “That hurts!” just to make your opponents think that they have the better cards, and will call or raise the bet.
One great thing about Governor of Poker 3 is that you can set your actions ahead of your turn so you can just sit there and watch the unfolding. If you think that your card is good enough and you want to keep on calling the other players to raise the Pot, then you can click on “Call Any.” The AI will call each and every round.
On the other hand, if you want to just Check or Fold because you’re not confident about your cards, you can set that as a default as well. You can intervene anytime, of course.
Each saloon offers different risks and challenges. Some saloons have more expensive buy-ins, while others have lower buy-ins but also lower payouts. Pick the one that you think fits your appetite as a gambler.
