Developed with eSports in mind, Warship Rising is a 10-vs-10 MMO game that lets you experience the thrill of naval combat by commanding your very own warship. The game has tons of warships to unlock and customize, a nice selection of maps and game modes, as well as a fast and exhilarating gameplay. Dive into Warship Rising now and dominate your opponents!
To begin your military career at sea, you’ll first need to sign a form to officiate your enrollment before heading over to the Naval Base at San Diego where an attractive Lieutenant Halsey will be conducting your training (a.k.a. tutorial).
The controls in Warship Rising is very responsive to your every touch, but it might feel a bit overwhelming mainly because you have controls on the left, right and center of the screen... that is until you realize that you won’t need to adjust your ship’s speed or direction that often and can use your left finger to aim your reticle instead.
There are generally two main types of weapons you can use in this game – the normal firing button and the torpedoes. Like World of Warships, you’ll need to aim your reticle slightly ahead of a moving enemy vessel just so you can hit it. To make the most of your shots, you can also use the binoculars option to “scope in” on your target.
Warship Rising also has a really nice selection of warships, ranging from cruisers and destroyers to submarines and aircraft carriers, for you to play with... and yes, you can own multiple ships. To unlock a new ship, you’ll need to gather enough materials to upgrade the ship’s modules before upgrading the ship itself by a tier. Aside from modules, you can even upgrade the guns you equip on your ships or swap them out for something better.
Best yet, all of these ships are modelled after their actual real-life counterparts. This is something that may delight warship enthusiasts.
Now you’ve got your ship ready, it’s time to see some actual action! To play a match, you’ll need to spend fuel. Fuel is, as you may expect, a somewhat limited commodity which will replenish over time. However, if you really need to, you can always buy more using real money or ask your friends to gift you some fuel.
There are two forms of battles at the moment – Team, which allows you to assemble your team before heading off into combat; or Battle that will match you with random players from all over the world. The game also has a nice variety of maps so far and the game modes – victory conditions – are pretty varied, including occupying a control point for a specified time and sinking the most enemy ships.
Warship Rising provides a guild system for like-minded players to group up and play together too. Being part of a guild will grant you access to special guild-only features, but in return, you’ll be expected to contribute to the guild.
As it is a mobile game, the graphics in this game, ranging from ship models to the game environment, is rather good if you don’t scrutinize it too closely. The music and voice acting complement the game as well, but I find it rather odd and quite humorous that Halsey often refers to herself in the third person.
Being a free-to-play game, Warship Rising has an in-game shop that sells a variety of goodies – mainly ship parts, guns and upgrade materials – in exchange for honor points, game currency (silvers) or premium currency (Gold). Interestingly, there are also special warships that you can buy using Gold. The game has a tiered VIP system too. VIPs in this game may have a bit too many perks which may tilt battles in the spenders’ favor.
In short, Warship Rising is an addictively fun and competitive MMO game that lets you battle it out behind the wheel of a mighty warship. The game is, admittedly, rather simplistic as compared to games like World of Warships, but this is mainly because it is made to cater to the average mobile gamer. So, if you have always wanted to play a World of Warships-like game on your mobile, Warship Rising is a really good game to try.
