Age of Cavemen is an awesome MMORTS that takes all the concepts and fundamentals of modern day strategy games and incorporates them in a very intriguing prehistoric setting to make for an experience that’s refreshing and highly addictive. If you like playing RTS games but are tired of the overused medieval setting that most of them come with then this is a game that’s sure to impress.
Age of Cavemen, much like any other games of its genre, can be slightly difficult to get the hang of and this is mainly due to the fact that there are just tons of things that you need to learn in order to play the game proficiently. Thankfully though, the game starts new players off with a highly in-depth and step by step tutorial sequence that does an excellent job of explaining all the game’s basics and it does so in a timely manner as well so you’ll be done with it in a matter of minutes.
The core gameplay of Age of Cavemen can be divided into two major components, base building and base raiding. The game gives players an insane amount of tools to build their base and make its defenses and economy as strong as they possibly can. However, although there are lots of tools at your disposal that you can use to make a seemingly indestructible base, you need to make sure that all the aspects of your based are properly balanced. For example, you can’t invest too heavily into fortifications because that’d leave you with a dwindling economy but at the same time you can’t focus too much on your economy because that would make your defenses lackluster. You need to find the perfect sweet spot and once you manage to do so you’ll be able to put together a base that’ll be insanely hard to take down.
As for base raiding, it’s simply put an insanely fun activity. When you raid a base you’ll get to take with you a massive army and how you use this army is completely up to you. The best part about raiding is that you can think of creative ways to penetrate the enemy’s defenses and get to the core of his base but keep in mind that if you fail to deploy your troops properly then there’s a high chance that you’ll lose most of your army without gaining anything so it’s best to formulate a solid plan before invading the enemy.
Age of Cavemen might not be the best looking game of its genre but it’s certainly one of the better choices available in terms of graphics. The game is filled with tons of special effects that you’ll get to see during combat and these coupled with the distinct prehistoric setting make it very appealing to look at. The unit designs are also very solid and overall there’s a ton of eye candy to enjoy.
Much like any other MMORTS of today, Age of Cavemen comes with its fair share of micro-transactions that players can go through to acquire in-game currency that they can then use in the in-game shops to purchase new structures or to speed up on-going tasks like troop training or construction.
Age of Cavemen is a very exciting and engaging MMORTS that manages to combine solid gameplay with a fascinating setting.
