Throughout the years we’ve seen some absolutely spectacular horse games that have delivered hours upon hours of enjoyment but, in spite of how fun these games have been, we’ve always felt that they’ve lacked the full-fledged experience. Most horse games seem to be held back by one thing or another and this prevents them from reaching their potential but, fortunately, Riding Out overcomes all the odds and delivers players a truly immersive horse game experience that has it all.
Before we go into any of Riding Out’s specifics, we want to point out that the game is still in its beta stages and it’s quite farm from having a completed build. Due to this, you’ll no doubt run into a bunch of technical issues and missing content while playing through it. However, most of these issues are the kind that can be fixed so it’s highly unlikely that they’ll be present in the final release of the game.
Onto the gameplay, Riding Out is a game that gives players complete freedom over what they do. Most games in this genre are pretty linear and straightforward but Riding Out is a full-fledged RPG in which you’ll be able to enjoy the experience exactly according to your preferences. When you start off in the game, you’ll be taken through a bunch of tutorial tasks and, once you’re done with all of these, you’ll be allowed to do pretty much anything you want to. The game features a breathtaking game world that’s filled to the brim with quests to complete. There are multiple different kinds of horses that players can interact with and there is an enormous variety of special features that you simply cannot find in run-of-the-mill horse games.
Riding Out is one of the few, if not the only, horse games that let players build their own stable from scratch and design it exactly according to their preferences. Alongside this, you’ll be able to participate in various show jumping competitions and, if you’re truly competitive, you’ll even be able to participate in fast-paced races that’ll push your skills to the absolute limit. Again, we want to point out that the game does have some technical flaws but these will likely be patched out in the final release.
As for the visuals, Riding Out completely blew us away. The game is no doubt one of the best looking horse games we’ve ever come across and the game world is so spectacular that you can often spend hours simply wandering through it and taking in all its beauty. Alongside this, the horses look quite realistic and the character designs are top notch as well.
A demo version of Riding Out is available for free download but, to enjoy all the game’s features, you’ll need to purchase it for its usual price.
Overall, Riding Out is a phenomenal horse game that truly raises the bar for future games to come in this genre.
