The Christmas season is almost upon us. What’s the best way to start feeling the Yuletide vibe but to play a Christmas-themed game? Well, that’s exactly what Christmas Wonderland 4 is all about. It continues the journey of a family who always travels home to their hometown to celebrate the Yuletide seasons.
First off, you can download a free 90-minute trial of the game through Big Fish’s Game Manager. You’ll have to make a purchase through the website if you like the game, but feel free to give it a try first for an hour and a half. Do that first, and then read through the rest of this review.
The game begins with a short cut-scene that shows two siblings (a boy and a girl) together with their parents traveling to their hometown to celebrate Christmas. The two children express excitement at what’s in store for them this year, and, before you know it, you’re in front of a Christmas parade and ceremony to turn on the Christmas lights!
This is your first Hidden Object puzzle. The game will kindly teach you the ropes first, especially when dealing with special objects. These objects are labeled as blue in the list, and they require special action from you in order to be uncovered. Other items simply have to be clicked in order to be removed from the list.
After you’ve found all the objects in this first puzzle, the two siblings will then check their pictures of last year’s celebrations. This is your first “Spot the Difference” game. Simply click on the parts of the picture that are different from each other, and the game will mark that with a star. Find all the differences, and the level is over.
Your next level is a Hidden Object puzzle, so on and so forth. You can be sure not to be bored as the game alternates between HO and non-HO puzzles. So keep yourself glued to your seat as there are plenty of things to enjoy here in Christmas Wonderland 4!
There are two modes of gameplay here: Casual, and Advanced. Casual is the mode for those who are looking for a smooth and enjoyable experience in the game, minus the heavy challenges. Advanced is for those, obviously, who want to put themselves through a challenge.
Whatever mode you choose to play, you can be sure it will totally be tailored towards your preferences and gaming appetite.
While it is not free, Christmas Wonderland 4 is still definitely a good addition to your game collection. The price is worth it. If you’re not sure, you can begin by downloading the 90-minute trial through Big Fish’s Game Manager app. Take it from there, but rest assured you’ll want to make a purchase once the trial period is done.
